LOS ANGELES Esa Lindell Salute to Service Jersey , Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- An international research team led by Chinese astronomers revealed an evidence of dynamical dark energy.

The discovery, recently published on Nature Astronomy, with a News & Views article written by a world expert on cosmology, found that the nature of dark energy may not be the cosmological constant introduced by Albert Einstein 100 years ago, which is crucial for the study of dark energy.

The new study was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Royal Society Newton Advanced Fellowship.

Revealing the nature of dark energy is one of key goals of modern sciences. The physical property of dark energy is represented by its Equation of State (EoS), which is the ratio of pressure and energy density of dark energy.

In the traditional Lambda-Cold Dark Matter (LCDM) model, dark energy is essentially the cosmological constant, i.e., the vacuum energy, with a constant EoS of -1. In this model, dark energy has no dynamical features.

In 2016, a team within the SDSS-III (BOSS) collaboration led by Prof. Gong-Bo Zhao of National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC) performed a successful measurement of the Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) at multiple cosmic epochs with a high precision.

Based on this measurement and a method developed by Zhao for dark energy studies, the Zhao team found an evidence of dynamical dark energy at a significance level of 3.5 sigma. This suggests that the nature of dark energy may not be the vacuum energy, but some kind of dynamical field, especially for the quintom model whose EoS varies with time and crosses the -1 boundary during evolution, according to NAOC.

"As the Zhao team reported in this work, a dynamical dark energy model is able to naturally reconcile tensions between local and primordial measurements of cosmological parameters in the LCDM model," Prof. Xinmin Zhang at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) told Xinhua.

"Which makes a crucial step towards understanding the nature of dark energy," he added.

The dynamics of dark energy needs to be confirmed by next-generation astronomical surveys. The team points to the upcoming Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey, which aims to begin creating a 3D cosmic map in 2018.

In the next five to ten years, the world largest galaxy surveys will provide observables which may be key to unveil the mystery of dark energy, according to a news release of NAOC.

Prague, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Czech tennis player Tomas Berdych has ended cooperation with his coach Daniel Vallverdu after 17 months, announced the world No.8 player on Monday in a press release.

He has no coach at present, one week before the grand slam Roland Garros.

Vallverdua previously cooperated with British Andy Murray. Berdych said his latest results are not what he expected. He said he is not a tennis player at the beginning of his career, so he had to act quickly when he felt the need for change.

The 33-year-old Berdych was not lucky in the tournament in 2016. Last week in the Italian Open tournament in Rome, he even suffered the worst defeat of his career in the third round match with Belgian David Goffin, he lost 6-0, 6-0 to Goffin without scoring one game.

Berdych said his decision is not a direct response to his crushing defeat in Rome. Now he is heading to Paris where he will prepare for matches in Roland Garros.

Berdych's cooperation with Vallverdu began well at the beginning of 2015 when he advanced to the semifinal in Australian Open. But he never beat any of the world's best players, Novak Djokovic, Murray or Roger Federer. This year, Berdych also started losing matches with other players whom he managed to defeat in 2015.

Vallverdu said it was a pleasure to work with Thomas and it was also a challenge to help him fulfill his professional goals. He said he wish Thomas all the best in another way forward even they would not continue to cooperate. Enditem

Expectations of higher inflation in China in the coming quarter are rising, according to a central bank quarterly economic survey released on Thursday.

The People's Bank of China, the country's central bank, said that its index of inflation expectations stood at 72.2 percent, up 1.7 percentage points from the previous survey.

The survey said that 61.6 percent of respondents thought prices were higher in the current quarter than the previous one, up 1.8 percentage points from the previous three months.

Official figures earlier this month showed that the consumer inflation rate unexpectedly slowed in November to 3 percent from an eight-month high of 3.2 percent the month before, although still below the official target of 3.5 percent for 2013.

The central bank conducts three surveys of bankers, households and entrepreneurs every quarter for their views on various topics including the economic outlook, inflation and home prices.

The survey also found that two-thirds of the respondents believed property prices were high.

The survey is in line with the housing prices released by the National Bureau of Statistics Wednesday, which showed that out of 70 major cities, only Wenzhou in East China's Zhejiang Province saw a fall in prices. Shanghai led the rise with a year-on-year increase of 21.9 percent in November, followed by Beijing and Guangzhou.

On Wednesday, the think tank Chinese Academy of Social Sciences predicted in a paper that housing prices in the first- and second-tier cities will reach a ceiling in the first quarter next year, and the prices will then go down before the fourth quarter next year.

About 85.7 percent of respondents felt their incomes would increase or stay the same, higher than the previou.
